| General Summary: |
The Senior Security Engineer works with other technical teams on complex cross-functional projects. He/She is responsible for the day-to-day security of the Walmart.com enterprise, focusing primarily on security policy, compliance, and strategy, with involvement in leading daily task work. This person will also be responsible for coordinating incident responses with Wal-Mart corporate security as appropriate.

| Responsibilities: |
1. Production Support
• Provide 24/7 on-call security operational support on a rotational basis for the production Web environment and associated locations
• Patch management
• Password/Key management
• Certificate management
• Resolve business/customer support issues
2. Project/Tasks Work
• Create, implement and document comprehensive security policies, standards and procedures.
• Serve as primary point of interface with Wal-Mart corporate IT security organization
• Monitor current incidents and threats, and ensure that the enterprise is protected appropriately
• Work with other engineering teams to ensure that security requirements are satisfied for all projects
• Evaluate new technologies and present findings and recommendations to management
• Drive vulnerability assessments and follow-up on the action items generated
• Evaluate complex business and technical requirements, and be able to effectively communicate inherent security risks to non-technical business owners
• Lead cross functional project teams
• Provide mentoring and guidance to junior members of the team
3. Research
• Play a vital role in Technical Architectural Leadership in the areas of design, operation, implementation and maintenance of Wal-Mart’s Web properties running in 24/7/365 environments
• Focus on security design and revising our security plan to meet current business needs and compliance regulations
• Drive the selection, prototyping and implementation of applications and technical solutions to business problems
• Interact with internal and external technical leaders to develop innovative solutions that meet business needs with respect to availability, functionality, performance, capacity planning, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules and adherence to architectural goals and principles

1) Competencies: Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
Functional Competencies:
• Advanced technical knowledge of Solaris, Linux and Windows operating systems
• Proven ability to create effective security policies, standards and procedures
• Broad knowledge of networking, routing protocols switching and remote access methodologies
• Solid project management and problem-solving skills
• Ability to consistently hit deadlines and keep security projects on track, facilitate handoffs from one functional area to another, raise red flags, follow-up on success of security projects, identify dependencies and risks, and understand the architectural impact on projects and decisions made during the project
• Advanced technical knowledge of IDS/IPS, Vulnerability assessment tools, Log management tools, Firewalls, Cryptography and Digital Certificates
• Explains technical possibilities and limitations well enough to effectively inform non-engineering team members
• Ability to see the bigger picture and recommend strategies for improving security as well as managing the implementation details
• Proficient in AAA-related technologies
• Understands cyber security legal issues and impact, and readily identify potential threats
• Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
• Ability to articulate advanced technical topics (e.g., TCP protocol analysis)
• Able to forecast long-term financial impact of technical designs
• Unix shell prowess

2) Experience:
• 10 years of experience in a variety of IT disciplines, including system, network and development
• Proven experience with incident response and forensics
• Demonstrated effectiveness by successfully leading large-scale, complex projects
• Supported projects through all phases: vision development; selling; design; develop; deploy; and has supported the product when operational
• Experience with analyzing business requirements and designing solutions
• Experience in implementing application security solutions
• Experience with (either as a customer or auditor) regulatory compliance audits such as PCI DSS, SOX, ISO 17799, HIPPA, CA SB 1386, etc.
• Experience in developing vendor relationships and contracts
3) Preferred Educational Level:
• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• CISSP preferred. Other IT Security related certification a plus
